What Customers Say About Magellan Maestro 4040 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigator with Bluetooth and Text-to-Speech (Refurbished):

I replaced this item (Magellan Maestro 4040) after having the original stolen and obviously was quite pleased enough to replace it, and the replacement was delivered promptly and in excellent condition. I am very pleased with my experience from Amazon with this transaction. I'll definitely being doing business with Amazon in the future. Thank you, Andy

I happened to go to Canada and Hawaii this year, so I wanted to pick up a GPS that had those maps. After searching for a bit, I found this unit on Amazon for about $80.It does everything I expect it to including:text to speechAlaska (haven't tried), Hawaii, and Canada mapsa lot of Points of InterestI like that it can figures out my current location fairly quickly. It seemed to take my Navigon 5-10 minutes to pinpoint the current location. One negative is the user interface isn't as intuitive as some other GPS systems I've used. If I don't use it for a few weeks, I forget how to save new locations.Overall, great value for the money.

I'm glad to hear that I am not alone with customer service.I returned my unit to be serviced (on/off button was pushed into the unit making it useless) and it took a lot of phone calls and screaming before they finally sent me a new system (4 months), I'm not sure if that's there practice (sending you a new system) or if they actually fix them. If you do return the system to Magellan, write down all the information, date you sent it, repair number and whom you speak to and his/her identification, hopefully you won't have to use the information. The system as a whole (4040) is very good, it has kept me from getting lost many times, one problem is that it at time it gets me where I want to go in a round-about way, still better than being lost.I just recently updated the map in my system, I had a problem with the battery being weak, my AC charger wouldn't charge the system so I think that's gone and I have 2 of them, neither one works, that says a lot about the charger, I plugged the unit in the DC charger in the car and that fully charged it so I able to download the map successfully. If I had to, I would purchase another one.The GPS is a good/excellent unit, customer service and the charger suck.

I had to use the mapquest despite having the GPS with me. I have used it few times. once it could not even find the location. 3 hours batter life is just a big scam. It only lasts for few minsmounting kit way too big.

Very good GPS unit but I had purchased a Magellan 4000 and it crapped out on me. I had just recently paid 79.00 for the updated maps and lost it in the 4000. I contacted Magellan directly but they refused to help; therefore, I was out 79.00This is a reflection on Magellan and not Amazon. It has been a good unit so far, nevertheless.
